On Monday we were told to produce a presentation based on our project-New Television Crime Drama of 3 minutes duration; for the following lesson, which was on Wednesday. Based on that we were given a brief introduction of the areas we should consider while planning the presentation. These areas were categorised into 6 elements:
Presentation Material:
• Power-Point Presentation
• Flipchart
• Flashcards
Narrative Style/ Genre / Sequence/ Codes and Conventions:
• Explain the narrative, based on the 3 minute sequence
Logistics:(organisation)-roles within the group
Characters:
• Number of characters going to be used
• Background Information on the central characters
Style:
• Camera
• Editing
• Sound
• Mise en Scene
Target Audience
Using the elements stated above, we considered how to prepare this presentation, among our group. We all agreed to make a Power Point Presentation, as it is the easiest solution to present the project to the whole the class. Then I decided it will be beneficial if we divided the presentation between this group, as I believe it’s not fair allowing one person doing it alone. Upon this suggestion, Sameera decided to do the script as part of the narrative/ style as well as the logistics, since she’s the team leader. After all, I decided to take the parts that were left. In this case, the sections: characters, style and the target audience. Were as, Hamza didn’t want to participate within this presentation.
As a result, Sameera and I determined on the presentation format ideas, so we logged onto a computer to make the decisions on the background colour, text style/ size and colour. As we were going make our presentation at home as part our homework, so we required to have same formatting, to make the presentation suitable. While, Hamza was creating a title for the Crime Drama ‘Ground Floor’, using ‘Photo Shop’ and ‘Dafont.com’. Soon, Sameera and I decided on those formatting ideas. This included white background, with red headings and black text, this was due to the fact Hamza had similar colours on our Crime Drama title. In this sense, Sameera and I thought it will be appropriate if we followed the same colour schemes on the presentation too.
On the other hand, we had problem which was how we will put the presentation together, since we both start on different times on Wednesday. Then, I decided to make the presentation, as well as do a script based on it, during the evening. As result, I will be able to give this presentation to her tomorrow, therefore, she could put the presentation together for Wednesday’s lesson.
