On Wednesday each group presented their presentation about their project ‘The New Television Crime Drama’; that we were told in the previous lesson (Monday).
Everybody was asked to consider 3 areas while, writing their own account on the presentation feedbacks.
1. Something you liked?
2. Something to improve?
3. Suggestion?
In which the six groups to present their presentations.
Group 1: Idriss
I liked the way in which he gave a detailed account in terms of their central character‘Khan’ as well as the historical context related to the character’s name choice. As a result, in this sense it engaged me into the narrative itself. However, there wasn’t enough details given about the narrative/ sequence and seems quite confusing, or a title to the drama to capture the interest as a member of an audience from the initial stage. As mostly all groups had managed to do so. Furthermore, I also was impressed the fact the whole group are going play a role within the film, unlike other groups. This showed commitment within the group itself. To sum up, I was interested the team and himself included the information about the style: sound, editing, lighting, which further showed good preparation planning for their project. He also but forward thoughts of other crime drama he has studied previously, this demonstrated personal experiences he had gained, and logically using them into his group’s project itself.
Hopefully, due to the determination of Idriss as a team-leader will make their project work!
Group 2: Shabanah ‘Game’
Very detail in terms of their narrative/ sequence, which gained my attention to their Crime Drama, as a member of an audience. I really liked the fact they were going use a range of location. Nice profile (age, gender, photo) of their central character background information given, very distinctive thought given on it, unlike other groups. This got me involved into the narrative. This was further associated due to the title ‘Game’; this created the idea of mystery in my mind, which further added my attention to it. On the other hand, they could have given specific details about style: sound, editing, customs and props, to make it more engaging.
I am looking forward to their crime drama.
Group 3: Aqib Black Lash
They were had a very specific about the type of Crime Drama they were after. In this case, it was ‘British Crime Drama’, typical choice, unlike other groups, they didn’t include it. In addition, their narrative/ sequence weren’t clear at times and it also was brief, to capture my attention as a member of an audience. Although another criticism approach upon this group or the presentation itself the fact they didn’t put forward much detail on various important factors, in terms of characters, location/ setting. On the other hand, I liked the information given about the style section, in particular the customs, and props; the choice of ‘car’, and ‘police outfit’. Overall, I really liked their title ‘Black Lash’, because use of black, creates the connotation of mystery behind it their Drama, as common feature
I am looking forward to their crime drama.
Group 4: Zeyn
Due to the narrative being about ‘Kidnap’ created a unique style of plot, in comparison to other groups. This gives the group a really advantage to make their Crime Drama very sophisticated, in relation to others. In contrast, there were VERY limited or no details at times about style, characters, location or the narrative itself, which disengaged me from this Drama. Moreover, there wasn’t even a title presented, however, I understand the fact the title is not relevant at this point.
Although there were limited knowledge given in most areas as stated above but it’s reasonable to understand the fact it’s still at early stage in terms of their project work. I got hope the fact this group could improve in some extend, with time, experience and determination in the future. Good Luckkkkkkk!
Group 5: Shamimah ‘Trauma’
I was particularly interested with the narrative itself. This was due to their central character choice ‘Cop with multi-personality and disorder’; which is directionally shown upon their title ‘Trauma.’ They also had nice choice of music ‘Propane Pendulum’; with the use of the tempo of this music created a mysterious, as well as a energetic atmosphere, which gained by interest as a member of an audience. Moreover, they gave good details in terms of style, location, and character. The idea of custom design was demonstrated through the use of models, which added more emphasises to the narrative, which was a unique method, in comparison to other groups. Another good feature was the fact they created their own logo. However, the narrative could have been clearer at times, to capture the audience awareness.
I am really looking forward to their crime drama.
Group 6: (my group) Sameea ‘Ground Floor’
Details provided in terms of narrative as we as sequence. To capture the audience’s interest. We also had a very unique central character ‘Lady Villain’, in comparison to other groups, who mostly had male characters involved. On the whole, we both provided details on all aspects: narrative style, characters, and target audience which most groups didn’t approach to. However, we have improved by given thoughts about the customs and props, but we haven’t considered at the moment.
