On Monday we as a group-Shamimah, Sameera, Dean and me, edited the finishing touches together. The editing elements were Music, Transition and Title.
We initially, decided the features we want to insert on the short film. Then, Sameera and me came with the idea to put a title at the end of the film .This was ‘to be continued...’ as we wanted out film to be as a cliff hanger. In order for the audience to decide what will happen. This is a common factor found in short films. This title was created on software ‘File Type’ by Shamimah, as well as help and contributions from the rest of the group . However, it was difficult when it was ‘imported’ onto the short film in ‘final cut. As the title continuously appeared as ‘unreantant’ after several attempts. Each time Shamimah typed ‘Ctrl R’, as this was suggested by Gerard. This was to relant it. Eventually, with Dean’s as well as Gerard’s help we managed to place the title. Even tough, this had taken the majority of the lesson time. With that, we had about half an hour left. As a result, the group decided to add transition to the film. This role was taken by Shamimah, and then later Sameera helped. Again we faced the same problem, but this time we managed to solve it after two attempts, to reanta (i think that's how you spell it) it. Although, the transition did not appear successfully as we hoped, as one shot was deleted due to that. Then Sameera ‘undo’ the transition as a result. Therefore, we did not import any transition. On the other hand, we did have experiences using transition, so we have the skills using it on the post-production of our coursework in the future.
Finally, the group wanted a suitable title to the short film. Later, Dean and me put forward the title as ‘CSI JCC’. This was applied by Sameera, with a special effect.
Overall, we did not locate music as we were given the opportunity do so. This was because we had dialogues when the detective (me), and suspect (Sameera), which developed the narrative and the character within the film. Furthermore, we also didn’t do it, since no one made any decisions about it last week.
In summary, from today’s lesson the group and myself experienced and gained the knowledge of editing features.Such as, how to import title and transitions on the short film.
our ablitiy on Editing process could improve with time and experience in the future.
